The surfaces of this work are of white tissue which is illuminated by ultra violet light producing a strong blue effect in a series of light wells. This is offset by red and green LED surface lighting. |

This work began with an ultra violet tube and I was amused and intrigued by the way in which some white materials glow blue in the light of the tube. The first intention was to build a horizontal surface with a series of light wells in it, which would cut though to a blue glowing underworld. As the work evolved, the horizontal surface became vertical and the blue underworld became a glowing blue interior, contrasted with red and green surface lighting. The red and green lights play on the 'well heads', which being white pick up the colour of the lights. The effect relies upon the interplay of colour and shadow. | ![]() |
