This box is part of a group of works which are like theatre sets, made up of a series of flat elements lit from beneath to give a sense of depth and hopefully a feeling of mystery. When the viewer looks within the interior space shimmers with the saturation of colour. |

This box was designed to be looked into through the front opening. The interior is made up of a series of flat elements pierced to allow the viewer to look through and into a space that is obscured by the intensity of the light. | ![]() |

Here you can see how the repetition of colours at the side complement the glowing interior. | ![]() |

The side of the work is an off shoot of the way the interior is structured and lit, but I like the way it has worked out as an element in its own right. | ![]() |

Once you focus on the interior then the separate colours break down into a glowing mass that gives an impression of great heat and hidden space. | ![]() |

The work is made of foam card covered with tissue paper and situated within a perspex box mounted on an MDF base. It is lit by four LED units. Dimensions: 235mm x 235mm x 350mm. |
