The front of this piece is a curved frame work of balsa wood. Behind it are a number of layers separated by coloured tissue screens in front of a light source. |

This was my first attempt to create an imaginary space that would defy the viewer's ordinary sense of three dimensional geometry. The inspiration for the structural elements came initially from making model aeroplanes. The front curved surface is constructed of tissue paper stretched across a balsa wood frame. Inside there are a number of layers with staggered screens so that you can look at angles into the interior. In places there are openings that give onto corridors which appear to run deep inside. Placed in the corridors there are illuminated cones which can be seen from a number of different angles. | ![]() |
