On this page you find will photos and a description of a work that I call Bridge to Somewhere, for reasons explained below. I have tried to convey in pictures and words something of the qualities of the work. This work is constructed of foam card and tissue paper standing on an illuminated base. It is 33cm high and 25cm square. It is one of a series of three works that are fully three dimensional being designed to be viewed from all four sides. For display purposes it stands on a pedestal. |

This work is as much about what you can see inside as what you can see from without. If you look through the openings into the interior you see a series of spaces. A large space at the front has a bridge crossing over it. This connects to smaller spaces at the back, each of which contains an illuminated cone. When I started the work I simply thought of a bridge that crossed over a void and connected to an opening on the other side. I was unsure what was to be found beyond the opening and I have tried to retain this uncertainty by providing a confusing vision. Looking across the bridge you can see a passage, that is apparently too long to be contained by the work and which ends in an image that is difficult to decipher. | ![]() |
